TeAM specifics
A. Each Team can consist up to 8 players (6 players and 2 substitutes).
B. At any point of time in the court, each team must have 6 players with a minimum of 3 female players.
C. 1 out of the 6 players from each team will stand on the chair provided.
D. ONLY registered team players are allowed to participate in the match.
Rules and Regulations
A. Players’ Equipment and Attire
i. Wearing a top on court is to be strictly adhered to.
ii. Players are required to be barefooted when playing. Socks are allowed but optional.
iii. NO objects that may cause injury to any player is to be worn, including any kind of jewellery such as watches, bracelets, pins, etc.
iv. In the event two different teams wear similar-colored top, a coin toss will determine which team will wear the bibs. Teams having players who wear random tops will wear the bibs too.
v. Players may wear glasses at their own risk.
B. Reporting
ii. Announcement of the next game will be made during the half time of the previous match.
iii. It will be a walk over if teams are still missing 5 minutes into game time.
C. Rules
Captain’s ball is a non-contact game.
i. No player shall knock or push, spear an opponent or interfere with his/her play accidentally or deliberately. The first time this happens, a warning will be given. The second time, the player will be disqualified from that game.
ii. Passing and scoring must be made within the court boundaries.
iii. Corner passes must be made 2m from the corners of the court indicated by white masking tape.
iv. The game will begin with a jump ball.
v. Swatting the ball away from a player is not allowed.
vi. Bouncing the ball and moving with it (like dribbling), or deliberately using your legs to play the ball (such as to block/kick), rolling (low pass is ok) is not allowed. However, if the ball touches/hits a player’s legs without his/her deliberate action, play continues.
vii. Players are not allowed to “spike” the ball. A “spike” is defined as a spike in a volleyball game.
viii. A warning will be issued for every violation committed by the player.
ix. Players cannot jump and land with the ball in hand. Once a jump is made the ball must be release from the player’s hands before he/she lands.
D. Scoring
i. A goal/point is scored when the catcher has a firm hold of the ball (with both hands on the ball) while on the chair.
ii. A successful goal would count as one point.
iii. After a goal is scored, game play will resume with a pass from anyone from the non-scoring team.
iv. Point System:
Win – 3 Points,
Draw – 1 point,
Lose – 0 points.
Walkover – 2 Points,
A. Travelling Foul
i. A player may receive the ball with one foot grounded or may jump to catch and land on one foot. While that landing foot remains on the ground, the player can only pivot on that foot.
ii. Dragging of the landing foot is also not allowed. Hopping is not allowed. A player may receive the ball with both feet on the ground, or may jump to catch the ball and land on both feet simultaneously. The player may then choose to move either foot, and the remaining foot shall then be considered to be the landing foot. Proceed as in above.
B. Jumping Foul
i. This occurs when a player with the ball jumps and lands with the ball still in his/her hands. Players are required to release the ball upon jumping with the ball in his/her hands.
C. Holding Foul
i. A player is only allowed possession of the ball for a maximum of 5 seconds at all times (even at start of game).
D. Defensive Foul
i. Where any contact is made on the player holding the ball, a defensive foul is committed. All players must defend at an arm’s length away (2-3 feet).
E. Penalty for fouls committed
i. Whenever a foul is committed, play is resumed on the spot, with the defending team standing at least an arm’s length away until the ball has been passed.
ii. Play resumes beginning with a pass. There will be no direct shots on goal upon resumption of play.
GAME PLAY
A. Competition Play
i. First round: Each half round lasts 4 minutes. 1 minute break during half time.
ii. Quarter and Semi Finals: Each half lasts 5minutes. 1 minutes break during half time.
iii. Finals: Each half will last for 10 minutes. 5 minutes break during half time.
iv. The timer will run continuously regardless of fouls commited.
v. End of game is indictated by the sounding of a horn/loud hailer.
B. Commencement of game
i. The team to be in possession of the ball in the first half is determined by the jump ball.
ii. For start of the second half, the opposing team will have the possession of the ball.
iii. The game will start at the baseline where the opposing team scores.
C. Substitutions
i. Substitutions are only allowed during the break given during half-time with the exception of injuries
D. Time-out
i. No timeouts allowed during the whole game with the exception of injuries.
Misc
1. Every decision made by the organizing committee will be final.
2. Players are not allowed to wear any jewellery, accessories and watches. Ear studs are acceptable.
3. Players are advised to be in comfortable attire.
4. No footwear will be allowed during this game, socks are optional.
5. Girls are not allowed to wear skirts.
6. Profanities are forbidden on court. Players will be warned and will be asked to leave the game if he/she had been warned repeatedly.
7. Players are required to keep their fingernails short.
8. No violent behaviour with the intention to hurt other participants and non-participants alike will be tolerated. Any intentional violence will result in instant expulsion for the player/s from the match.
9. Players are not allowed to pull the shirt of their opponents.
10. Signing on the verification slip would indicate that the whole team agrees that the score that is present on the slip at that point of time is accurate.
